Our guest speaker is Adeshola Momah, a social media Influencer, content creator, writer and entrepreneur.
In her presentation, she discussed “the business and artistry of content creation”, explaining artistry as the ability to have a creative skill while business is the process or art of making one’s living and it entails selling or buying a product or service. She quoted Bill Gates from a 1994 article on Microsoft, “content is king, everyone consumes content one way or the other”.
Content creators are individuals who publish audio/visual/written content online to grow an audience and eventually monetize their work, i.e online bloggers, infographics, social media Influencers, TikTokers, Artists, YouTubers, Photographers, Podcasters, Writers, Videographers etc.
Momoh further expounded that to be a content creator, you have to
know what you want to do, because content creation is an extremely broad field and there are various categories of content creators your unique strengths will always be in genres that appeal to you as an individual.
- Once you have decided what you want to do, the next step is research. Content creation is meant to educate, inspire and entertain. This will serve the purpose of elevating your perspective and teaching you to think critically and innovatively and give you an edge over others.
- Sample ideas. She explained that there are people all over the world creating the kind of content you want to make. All you have to do is find what appeals to you, sample it and make it relatable to your audience. Know the niche that your content fits in and study those already thriving within it.

- Your content should inspire, educate and entertain as much as possible
- Always start with a compelling introduction.
- Be engaging.
- Have good lighting.
- Get very familiar with editing apps.
- Write your plans and ideas down.
The biggest issue a content creator can have is procrastination.
