WHAT ARE THE GOONERS UP TO?

If you’re an Arsenal fan, this is probably the time to start getting excited. If you’re not an Arsenal fan… well, you might want to look away. The Gooners have just sent a little warning to the rest of the Premier League, and Manchester City were the unfortunate recipients.
A 3-0 demolition in the Community Shield, a trophy already in the cabinet, and suddenly Arsenal are looking like a team with something serious planned for the new season. Was it just a pre-season statement, or are Mikel Arteta and his boys quietly preparing to take over England?
Because if that performance against City is anything to go by, the Gooners are definitely cooking something.

The scary bit for the rest of the league is depth.
Calafiori scored after just 23 seconds, setting the tone immediately.
Havertz and Ødegaard finished the job.
Christos Tzolis was involved in all three goals, with two assists.
Arsenal didn’t even have to rely on some of their biggest names to make the statement — Rice and Saka weren’t in the starting XI.
And then there’s Bruno Guimarães, who looked very comfortable in that midfield on his Arsenal debut.
Last season they won the league. Now they’ve opened the new campaign by putting three past Manchester City without conceding.
So yeah…
Arsenal aren’t just defending the title. They might be coming for everything.
