What is a World Cup season without insane news on and off the pitch? The 2026 FIFA World Cup is already serving drama, goals, shocks, and pure entertainment.

The first round of group-stage matches officially wrapped up yesterday, with Colombia signing off in style thanks to a 3-1 win over Uzbekistan. Now, there’s no time to catch your breath because Round 2 kicks off today.

But in all of the frenzy, a good number of things have caught our eyes both on the pitch and off the pitch. There is versatility here, some are crazy, cringe and some just straight up funny.

1. Boston Runs Out Of Beer

Thousands of Scottish supporters descended on the city of Boston and drank so much beer that several bars reportedly ran out of stock. Try to imagine that. The Tartan Army proved they can empty taps almost as quickly as they fill stadiums.

2. Ghana’s “Powder Man” Goes Viral

Ghana’s 1-0 win over Panama produced an unlikely star. A Ghanaian supporter who repeatedly blew powder into the air during celebrations became an internet sensation, with cameras constantly catching him in the crowd.

3. Germany Hit Seven

Germany produced the most ruthless performance of the World Cup so far, hammering Curaçao 7-1. It remains the tournament’s biggest scoreline and sent a warning to every other contender.

4. Cape Verde Hold Spain

One of the biggest football shocks came when tournament newcomers Cape Verde held Spain to a 0-0 draw. The result sparked celebrations in Praia, stunned fans around the world and produced a superstar in Cape Verde’s Vozinha, who has since become a global internet sensation.

5. England’s Camp Hit By Theft

Before England even kicked a ball, reports emerged that training equipment, boots and official match balls were stolen while being transported to the team’s base. Most items were later recovered, but it was a bizarre start to the tournament.

6. The Draws Nobody Saw Coming

The World Cup has already produced a series of surprising results:
