No African Artist Won At The 2026 BET Awards: Here’s The Full List Of Winners

Last night, the 2026 BET Awards took place, and the night that has been dubbed ‘Culture’s Biggest Night’ did indeed feel like it. Teyana Taylor emerged as the night’s biggest winner with four wins, including Best Actress and Video Director of the Year, while Lauryn Hill was honoured with the inaugural Living Legend Icon Award. The ceremony also spotlighted a new generation of artists like Leon Thomas, Kehlani and Doechii, proving that Black music continues to reinvent itself.

For African audiences, however, the night ended on a disappointing note. Despite nominations for Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tems, Asake and other leading acts, no African artist took home a trophy, marking the first time in several years that the continent went home empty-handed. This is especially thanks to the removal of the BET International Act category. The result? Afrobeats seems phased out.

Here’s the full list of winners in their nominated categories.
