Grammy-winning Nigerian singer-songwriter Tems has been announced as the executive music producer and curator of the official soundtrack for Children of Blood and Bone, the highly anticipated film adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling fantasy novel. She will also contribute three original songs to the project.

Based on Adeyemi’s acclaimed novel Legacy of Orïsha, Children of Blood and Bone follows Zélie Adebola’s fight to restore magic to the fictional kingdom of Orïsha after it is brutally erased by an oppressive monarchy. Gina Prince-Bythewood directs the Paramount Pictures adaptation and features a star-studded cast including Thuso Mbedu, Damson Idris, Tosin Cole, Idris Elba, Viola Davis, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch and Regina King. The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on 15 January 2027.

For Tems, the role marks another step beyond music performance into creative leadership. While she has built a reputation as one of Africa’s most influential global artists through projects like Born in the Wild and collaborations with Drake, Future, Wizkid and Beyoncé, executive producing a major Hollywood soundtrack expands her influence into film and world-building.
The announcement also reflects Hollywood’s growing commitment to authentic African voices, not only in front of the camera but behind the scenes. With a soundtrack curated by one of Nigeria’s biggest musical exports, Children of Blood and Bone has the opportunity to sonically capture the richness of the world Adeyemi created.
In addition, Burna Boy has been named the Executive Music Consultant, working closely with Tems to help shape the overall sound and creative direction of the project.
